The Russian forest complex, having the largest forest resources, plays an important role in the economy. However, a significant part of the wood is of low quality and illiquid, which limits its use in construction and furniture. In the context of climate change, the effective use of such wood is becoming important. The article examines the processing of low-quality wood into biofuels, wood slabs, cellulose, coal and bioplastics. These methods contribute to the rational use of forest resources, improve the environmental situation and create new sources of income for processing industries, which strengthens the Russian forest sector and its competitiveness in the international market.
