The article analyzes the implementation of priority investment projects in the field of forest development on the territory of the Russian Federation, considers the structure of priority investment projects in terms of the nomenclature of products, and gives an assessment of the risk factors for the implementation of priority investment projects in the field of forest development. It was found that the lack of risk assessment of forest management and forestry determines a significant number of failures in the implementation of priority investment projects in the field of forest development. The conclusion is made about the need to improve the methodology for evaluating investment projects in the field of forest development, claiming to be included in the list of priority projects.
