Abstract (English):
The paper deals with the information from the dictionaries of the 18-th, 19-th, 20-th centuries to describe the word “borough” meaning. The method of generalized lexicographic description of a word meaning was used, its results of the 18-th, 19-th, 20-th centuries were compared to find the new sememe in the 20-the century. Then the linguistic information was illustrated with the country background information to have the full picture.
