Metallurgical enterprises, along with mining, oil refining, chemical and wood processing enterprises, are among the TOP five industries that have a negative impact on the environment. Metallurgical complexes are not only the main source of air pollution, but also the main consumers of raw natural resources. One of the significant problems faced by metallurgical complexes in the process of mining ore of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and its processing is the environmental problem caused by the destruction of the natural ecosystem. The annual increase in resource consumption leads to an increase in additional burden on the environment and forces us to look for new solutions to environmental problems related to the search for alternative resource sources, recycling of raw materials and reuse of waste.
