The article explores the possibilities of using modern information technologies to conserve biodiversity in forestry in the Russian Federation. It analyzes the main threats to forest biodiversity and the shortcomings of traditional management methods. Promising areas of informatization are considered, including satellite monitoring, drones, ground sensors, and the application of Big Data. Examples of successful technology implementation in other countries are provided, and recommendations for adaptation in Russia are offered.
