The article discusses the possibilities of using Big Data technologies in forest resource management to achieve sustainable development. The methods of data collection and processing (satellite monitoring, IoT sensors, machine learning) are analyzed, as well as their application to optimize logging logistics, predict wood demand, and calculate the carbon footprint. Using the example of global and regional cases (Global Forest Watch, the experience of the Russian Federation), the effectiveness of Big Data in solving environmental and economic problems is demonstrated. The key problems of implementation are discussed: data quality, staff shortage, high cost of infrastructure.
