The assessment of the state and current tasks of the development of the forestry engineering sector of the Russian economy is presented against the background of the high import dependence of the Russian forestry complex on machinery and equipment, anti-Russian sanctions and the cessation of supplies to the Russian Federation of modern technological equipment for the forestry sector.
