The paper presents an analysis of modern approaches to assessing the effective-ness of universities. An improved rating method for monitoring higher education institutions is presented, aimed at identifying the dynamics of the university's position in the rating lists. An analysis of the relationship between the place occupied by the university in the rating and its specific performance indicators is presented. The application of the specialized software product «LiftUp» is de-scribed for determining the current position of the university in the rating com-pared to previous periods and, accordingly, assessing possible prospects for the development and improvement of educational processes.
