On the western slope of the Southern Urals, in the area of broadleaf-dark coniferous forests, there is a high-altitude differentiation of broadleaf and dark coniferous plantations. Based on the results of the conducted microclimatic observations, it is concluded that the altitude differentiation of broadleaf and dark coniferous plantations is due to the vertical temperature gradient that determines the thermal regime of ecotopes, and the peculiar altitude spectrum of forest formations is due to the phenomenon of temperature inversion.
