The paper examines the influence of the density of common hazel (as an undergrowth species) on the occurrence of a fire hazard situation in forests and the relationship of this factor with the number of fires. It was found that the density of common hazel plays an important role in assessing the risk of a forest fire. Therefore, when determining the degree of fire hazard in forests, it is recommended to take this factor into account and consider it as an additional indicator when establishing the class of natural fire hazard.
