In recent years, climatic changes have been recorded on the territory of the Russian Federation. The Voronezh Region is no exception. This paper presents an analysis of the literature data on the role of phenological observations. The state of the issue for the Voronezh Region is analyzed separately. Phenology is a science that studies the seasonal rhythm of biological phenomena, such as plant blooming, budding, bird migration, and more. Phenological observations can be indicators of climate change on Earth. This will help forestry prepare for possible changes in forest systems. With constant climatic changes, it is possible to identify new tree species for reforestation. The study results in conclusions about the importance of such studies for forestry.
