The paper provides information on susceptibility of certain species of vascular plants listed in the Red Books of the Central Chernozem Region: Calla palustris L., Dentaria quinquefolia Bieb., Clematis integrifolia L., Juniperus communis L., Elytrigia stipifolia (Czern. ex Nevski) Nevski, Polemonium coeruleum L., and a monitored species — Tragopogon desertorum (Lind.) Klok. The paper identifies 8 fungal species: 6 species from the genera Ascochyta, 1 species from the genera Gloeosporium, and 1 species from the genera Lophodermium. It provides the locations of the plants affected and the dates when the plant samples were taken. An original illustration demonstrates the main characteristics of ascochytoses. It has been suggested that the identified diseases may pose the greatest threat to plants with limited distribution within the region, as pathogenic fungi could form new, more aggressive races within a restricted area. The reduction of the habitats and the decrease in the abundance of these plants is explained by the fact that they are widely used in folk medicine and therefore ruthlessly destroyed by the inhabitants.
