Abstract (English):
The article deals with the problem of improvement and development of steppe solonts. It is emphasized that when developing solonetz lands in the subzones with dark chestnut and chestnut soils it is necessary to pay special attention to the natural conditions of their formation, which determine the possibility of ameliorative development of solonetz lands. Genesis of solonts in these subzones is somewhat different than in the zone of chernozem soils. The site was improved by manure application on solonetz spots. The area of the experimental plot was 70 m2, the accounting area was 25 m2. Seeding rate according to the norm for the species in pure form at 100% seed germination. We studied the yield of Agropyron cristatum on plots under different methods of improvement and development of steppe solonets. Unfavorable moisture conditions by the beginning of spring regrowth were corrected by precipitation in May and June, not less than the average annual sum in May and about two average annual monthly sums in June. Such amount of precipitation provided average hay yield of Agropyron cristatum on improved plots in the range of 2.8-3.0 t/ha, which is 1.8 times more than on the control.
