SEASONAL PHOTOSYNTHETIC PRODUCTIVITY IN TREE SPECIES OF THE GENUS BETULA, POPULUS, AND PINUS IN THE FOREST-STEPPE ZONE OF THE EUROPEAN PART OF RUSSIA
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
This paper examines seasonal changes in photosynthetic productivity of the intersectional hybrid of poplar ‘E.s.-38’, silver birch ‘Uglyancheskaya-1’ and scots pine in the forest-steppe zone of the European part of Russia. The studies were conducted during the 2024 growing season, characterized by a prolonged deficit of soil moisture. A single-peaked nature of the seasonal dynamics of photosynthetic productivity was established for the experimental deciduous plants of poplar and birch, while Scots pine demonstrated high resistance to drought conditions and maintained productivity in June and September. Various adaptive mechanisms were identified in each of the species, which contributes to the preservation of the multicomponent plant community in the region.
