The changing global geopolitical and economic landscape is generating a global economic shift in the forestry sector, driven by innovative digital technologies. These technologies are intensely influencing the methods of supporting forestry operations, modifying value-added chains, and rethinking production processes for timber harvesting, delivery, and the use of forest lands. In the context of climate change, resource scarcity, and demographic shifts, technological solutions such as artificial intelligence, precision forestry, and big data analytics are transforming from supplementary tools into key elements necessary for ensuring the stability, productivity, and sustainable development of the forestry sector in the global and Russian markets. Russian and foreign scientists, as well as state authorities, are actively promoting digital transformation in the forestry sector through diverse initiatives and technological tools, and are supporting innovations in this field. The foundation of this transformation will be the development of capabilities for using new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and digital tools, including unmanned aerial systems and GIS technologies, to create efficient and climate-resilient forest bio- and ecosystems.
