The issue of rational land use in agriculture is a key one in the context of ensuring food security in the Russian Federation. In addition, land use is one of the components of the LULUCF sector (land use, land-use change and forestry), whose activities in the form of assessing the absorption capacity of ecosystems and stimulating the development of natural climate projects to increase the absorption capacity of greenhouse gases form the targets of the SDGS strategy. The article highlights the ecological and economic features of land use in the Voronezh region, taking into account the specifics of the use of agricultural land. The influence of ecological and economic features on the legislative regulation of land use rights, on the ecological and economic assessment of land resources and on the development of measures to obtain an ecological and economic effect from the use of land resources is reflected. The logical continuation of the identified ecological and economic features should be the formation of a system for regulating rational land use in agriculture.
