The main damage to the forests of the Lower Angara Region is caused by fires. Accounting for fire damage, including possible consequences in the form of degradation of forest ecosystems and forest vegetation conditions, is an essential element in assessing forest management activities in the field of forest protection from ecological, forestry and economic perspectives. It is concluded that there is a need for serious adjustments to the current procedure for calculating damage from forest fires.
