The role of a natural resource in the concept of sustainable development of a territory is vector-based. The urgency of the problem of rational use by modern society of a key element of natural resources in the form of land resources is due to the increasing intensity of land exploitation. The existing problem leads to land degradation, poses a threat to the food security of the national economy and has a negative impact on the socio-economic development of the territory. Territories with the most fertile lands, such as the Central Chernozem region, fall into a special risk zone. To solve the existing problem, it is necessary to develop comprehensive measures, including recommendations on optimizing the use of land resources in the context of achieving sustainable development goals.
