The article examines the negative impact of traffic jams on urban ecology and the environment, as well as methods to reduce pollution caused by urban traffic jams. The primary focus is on increased emissions of harmful substances, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter, which degrade air quality and harm public health. The study also analyzes the consequences of congestion, such as noise pollution, rising CO₂ emissions, and water resource contamination. In conclusion potential measures to mitigate environmental impacts are proposed, including the development of public transport and the adoption of "green" technologies.
