In recent decades, designer drugs, or new psychoactive substances (surfactants), have become a serious social and medical problem affecting many countries. These substances are created by modifying known drugs, which makes it possible to circumvent legal restrictions and preserve their narcotic effect. Designer drugs, such as synthetic cannabimimetics and fentanyl, are highly addictive and can be fatal. The mass production of such substances is concentrated in Southeast Asia, with active distribution via the Internet. The increase in the use of new surfactants, especially among young people, requires a comprehensive approach from States, including stricter legislation and the development of prevention and rehabilitation programs. The solution to this problem is possible only with the joint efforts of society, the Government and the international community.
