This article examines the evolution and comprehensive impact of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) on the modern transportation ecosystem. It analyzes the key benefits of ITS, including the enhancement of operational efficiency, reliability, safety, and transport multimodality. Particular attention is paid to applications such as electronic toll collection (ETC), cargo security management systems, and integrated information services. The article structures the benefits of ITS for three key stakeholders—society, road administrators, and users—and also touches upon current challenges associated with the implementation of these technologies.
