This article provides a systematic analysis of methods for increasing road network capacity in the face of steadily increasing traffic volumes in modern cities. Three key groups of methods are considered: adaptive traffic light control, mathematical modeling of traffic flows, and infrastructure planning solutions with public transport prioritization. A comparison of domestic and international sources reveals quantitative estimates of the effectiveness of each approach, as well as discrepancies in the data from various researchers. Conclusions are drawn regarding the need for a comprehensive application of these methods and promising areas for further research in the field of increasing road network capacity.
