The article examines the evolution of traffic control systems from isolated traffic lights to integrated Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Key problems of urban mobility are analyzed: growing motorization, uneven road network load, accident rates and environmental damage. The paper systematizes modern control technologies: adaptive traffic light control, intelligent traffic flow management systems, automated photo and video recording systems integrated with navigation services. The implementation of this approach makes it possible to optimize traffic flows, improve safety and reduce the negative impact of transport on the urban environment.
