The distribution of the larvae of the beetles Mordellistena parvulliformis Stshegol-Bar. and Mordellistena parvula Gyll. is examined. It is concluded that the main reasons for the deteriorating phytosanitary situation are changes in technology and variety composition, as well as the expansion of sunflower cultivation areas between 1991 and 2010. One of the objectives of the study was to assess the harmfulness of Mordellistena beetle larvae in the Voronezh Region. The research was conducted from 2021 to 2025 in the forest-steppe zone in the north of the region. As a result, a negative correlation was found between the number of Mordellistena beetle larvae and yield. A regression equation was obtained that determines the dependence of the decrease in sunflower oilseed yield on the increase in the number of Mordellistena beetle larvae in the crop stems. Estimates show that a 5% yield reduction is observed at a population density of 0.73 larvae per sunflower stem.
