The article analyzes the greening system of Sevastopol in the context of historical development and modern environmental challenges. It examines the evolution of urban greenery from the first plantings under Admiral Ushakov to the post-war restoration, when the city became the USSR leader in green space per capita. Based on data from the Accounts Chamber, systemic problems are identified: a deficit of green spaces (39.3 % of the standard), absence of regulations, and a disconnect between planting and subsequent care. The strategic solution proposed is a transition to professional arboriculture – managing the life cycle of urban trees. The conclusion emphasizes the need to unite scientific potential, historical experience, and political will to preserve the city's green heritage.
