MULTIDIMENSIONAL ASSESSMENT OF AGRICULTURAL LAND USE EFFECTIVENESS IN VARIOUS AGROCLIMATIC ZONES OF RUSSIA

Abstract:
The article presents a comparative analysis of the efficiency of agricultural land use in three contrasting agro-climatic zones of the Russian Federation: the Chernozem region (Kursk Oblast), the Non-Chernozem region (average indicators for the Central Federal District), and the Arid zone (Orenburg Oblast). A petal (radar) diagram was used for multidimensional comparison based on eight indicators, including yield, stability, erosion, energy efficiency, humus content, profitability, the share of irrigated land, and the ecological index. It has been revealed that the high productivity of the Chernozem region is associated with environmental costs and instability, while arid regions demonstrate sustainability and adaptability despite their low yields. The study concludes that it is necessary to transition from one-dimensional indicators to multidimensional assessment systems in order to justify regional land policy.
