the following article is devoted to exercising biography of a prominent political activist in Novokhopyorsky uyezd and a founder of local Red Guard whose name was E. V. Plotnikov. The article deals with his activity during the February Revolution and February-October period, his participation in the October Revolution inNovokhopyorsky uyezd, as well as his contribution to formation and strengthening of the Red Guard in Novokhopyorsk. This article is grounded on exploration of provincial and local political and military leadership during the Revolution and Civil War in Russia. Methodology of this work is based on usage of biographical method that implies necessity to find correlation between historical events and individual person as well as determining his/her role towards them.
