Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the design and operation features of fans of the cooling system for automotive engines in conditions of low temperatures typical of the Arctic (up to -50 °C and below). The physicochemical processes affecting the operation of fans are considered: changes in the mechanical properties of polymer and metal materials (increased brittleness, hardness), an increase in the viscosity of lubricants in bearing assemblies, an increase in starting currents of electric motors, a drift in the characteristics of electronic components and control units, thermocyclic loads leading to fatigue damage, as well as corrosion processes under conditions of condensation of moisture. Special attention is paid to the problems of cold start, engine warm-up, and fan control algorithms. The following promising solutions are proposed: the use of specialized low-temperature lubricants (for example, LUKOIL Sintoflex Arctic), the use of brushless valve motors with rare-earth magnets, intelligent PWM control with thermal compensation and sealing of electronic modules. The comprehensive implementation of these measures will ensure reliable operation of the cooling system at extremely low temperatures.
