Abstract:
Wood hygroscopicity induces anisotropic dimensional changes under humidity fluctuations, critically compromising CNC cutting precision. Solution: We propose an integrated method combining pre-stabilization of workpiece moisture content with algorithmic shrinkage compensation in CNC control code. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of dimensional dependence on moisture content, accounting for anisotropy, non-linearity, and threshold effects; development of an algorithm for calculating axis-specific compensation coefficients. For Cedrelaodorata, shrinkage coefficients of 0.0342 % tangential and 0.0263 % radial were established; for Norway spruce (Piceaabies), values range from 0.0320 to 0.0542 % depending on wood maturity. Implementation of corrections reduces systematic dimensional error by 1.5-2.6 % within the target moisture range of 6-14%. Synergy of passive stabilization measures and active algorithmic compensation ensures long-term geometric stability of wood products and enhances CNC manufacturing efficiency.
