The article discusses the issues of automation of contact welding processes control and modern trends in the development of automatic control systems for welding equipment. The relevance of automation implementation for improving production quality, productivity and safety, as well as minimizing the influence of the human factor, is substantiated. The key control parameters (welding current, time, compression force), functional schemes of suspended spot machines and types of contact welding are analyzed. It is established that the transition to software-controlled complexes allows to ensure the stability of parameters, reduce the number of defects and increase the competitiveness of products in mechanical engineering and construction.
