The study focuses on a comparative analysis of the cost of logging in Russia and China. The aim is to identify the reasons for the high costs of logging in Russia and to propose ways to improve the competitiveness of the Russian timber industry. The study examines the cost structure, technological approaches, the impact of inflation, and the economic consequences of China's dependence on imported timber. The results show that despite Russia's significant timber reserves, the cost of logging remains high, which negatively affects the profitability and competitiveness of the industry. To solve the problem, a set of measures is proposed, including the improvement of transport infrastructure, increasing productivity, and introducing modern technologies for wood processing.
