The research was carried out in leafy condition in the summer of 2025 on 3 accounting tapes with a width of 5 m and a length of 100 m, laid under the canopy of the Voronezh Upland oak forest growing on the territory of the Right-Bank district forestry of the Prigorodny Forestry district. Since 2014, it has been classified as a regional natural monument, and by origin it is a multi–generation vegetation plantation. The undergrowth in oak forests is an important forestry and ecological element of their structure. The presence, occurrence, density, breed and age structure of the undergrowth, the current parameters of its morphometric indicators, diversity, viability and sanitary condition depend on many environmental factors (origin, age, composition and completeness of the mother plantation, type of forest conditions, farming regime, etc.). The current species diversity of the undergrowth has been established. The trends revealing the processes of emergence, development and formation of the species diversity of the understory in different types of forest conditions under the canopy of the upland oak forest are shown. It is established that the undergrowth in the "Upland oak forests" develops dynamically and cyclically. In this case, the decisive role is played by the nature of seed production of maternal individuals, productivity, density of living ground cover, seed yield, quality and nature of their distribution.
