The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of the activities of microfinance organizations in the Russian Federation as representatives of the banking sector. The positive and negative aspects of the activities of microfinance institutions are considered. The purpose of the data presented in the work is aimed at understanding the advantages of the functioning of microfinance organizations, problems and ways to solve them. The trends in the development of microfinance organizations in the Russian Federation are analyzed, based on statistical data from official sources, the growth dynamics in the number of loans from Russian citizens and the dynamics in the number of overdue debts are shown. In conclusion, the need to pay attention to the problems of microfinance lending development and their solution is emphasized.
