This article examines the prospects of using the RISC-V architecture in microprocessor development. The limitations of transistor scaling, the shortcomings of the x86 architecture, and their impact on performance and energy efficiency are analyzed. The features of RISC-V, including its open architecture, modularity, and customizability, as well as its advantages and prospects in the context of Amdahl’s Law, are considered. Examples of RISC-V applications in various fields, including high-performance computing, embedded systems, and the Internet of Things, as well as current projects in the Russian Federation, are provided.
