Abstract:
The article examines the influence of one of the key traffic parameters - the distance between vehicles - on the capacity of the road network (UDS). The current trends in increasing traffic density and the associated risks are analyzed. The analysis of theoretical traffic models and practical aspects of the impact of distance reduction on the safety and effectiveness of UDS is carried out. Using the example of the city of Voronezh, the possibilities of using intelligent transport systems (ITS) and autonomous driving technologies to optimize distance are considered. Conclusions are drawn about the need for an integrated approach, including technical re-equipment and regulatory adjustments, to increase throughput without reducing security.
