Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to assess the current state and productivity of the pasture ecosystems of the Ilovlinsky–Medveditsky interfluve. Monitoring was carried out in the first decade of June 2025 at 6 locations. The objects of research are located in the Archedinsko-Ilovlinsko-Donskoy sand massif (Volgograd region, territories near the village of Ozerki, village of Viltov, village of Zheltukhin). Mowing was carried out at each location (1 m2 in 10-fold repetition), the average height of the herbage (cm), the projective coverage (%), the proportion of the fraction of cereals, legumes and various grasses in the phytomass (%/m2), as well as the proportion of the fraction of mesophytic, xerophytic and transitional meso-xerophytic, xerophytic-mesophytic species (% / m2). It has been established that, according to the pattern of overgrowth of a sand deposit, a wormwood-grass-grain phase of overgrowth of sands takes place in the territory with the age of the deposit of 6-10 years. It was found that Stipa lessingiana Trin & Rupr. is dominant throughout the research area, Stipa pennata L., Artemisia arenaria DC., Helichrysum arenarium (L.) DC., Dianthus campestris M. Bieb., Jurinea cyanoides DC., Euphorbia virgata Waldst. & Kit., Poa bulbosa L. The maximum average yield of herbage (307.2 g/m2) was found at location No. 6 at the foot of the sandy hillock. The average yield was 223.6 g/m2. The average number of species in the communities reached 5.5 pcs/m2, including cereals – 2.2 g/m2, legume species – 0.3 g/m2, and mixed grasses – 3.0 g/m2. The phytomass was dominated by xerophytes (52-69 %). The main phytomass was formed by cereal (47.0 %) and mixed-herb fractions (48.4 %).
