This study analyzes the influence of the geographic origin of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seeds on the success of their introduction to the Khrenovsky Bor. Using contrasting climatypes as an example, it examines patterns of adaptation and survival depending on the degree of correspondence between the environmental conditions of the place of origin and the planting site. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms underlying the depression or success of seed introductions from south to north and from extreme continental to temperate continental regions. The results substantiate the critical importance of considering the genetic and ecological differentiation of populations for planning effective reforestation and breeding efforts.
