Living ground cover is a complex of mosses, lichens, herbs, and subshrubs that cover the soil beneath the forest canopy, in clearings, and burnt areas. It is one of the forest layer layers. The presence of living ground cover is not associated with any specific tree species, but rather is due to habitat conditions favorable for both the tree stand and the vegetation that forms the ground cover. The aim of this study was to assess the species diversity of herbaceous plants in the specially protected areas of the Khrenovsky Pine Forest: the Zakaznik tract, the Zdorovye tract, and the Morozovskaya Roshcha tract.
