In the present article, the possibility of using a low-molecular copolymer obtained on the basis of the destruction of a by-product of the production of styrene butadiene rubber (coagulum) for the protective treatment of wood is considered. It is shown that the destruction of this copolymer makes it possible to achieve complete dissolution of this waste in toluene and obtain a solution capable of performing the function of varnish. Protective treatment of birch wood makes it possible to increase its water resistance, the service life of products based on it and to dispose of one of the wastes of the petrochemical industry.
