В статье представлены результаты анализа исследований зарубежных авторов, посвященных изучению вопросов агролесоводства. Анализ показал, что исторически исследования были связаны с практическими аспектами взаимодействия человека и природной среды, а на современном этапе ориентированы на изучению вопросов смягчения последствий климатических изменений. Систематизация исследований показала, что они могут быть дифференцированы по группы: исследования исторических аспектов, механизмов и способов агромелиорации, в т.ч. инновационных; исследование агролесоводства как предпринимательской деятельности; выявление его особенностей в различных природно-климатических условиях; исследование проблем сохранности экосистем и смягчения последствий изменения климата, в том числе прикладных аспектов декарбонизации.
